Doubout Kanpe

 

“Doubout Kanpe” is a creative essay about sovereignty that is written in English, French and Creole. Using poetry, photography and the essay form, it stages a conversation between Guadeloupe and Haiti. It also draws on archival research and conversation with the Guadeloupe-based artist, Minia Biabiany.

This essay is published in Spectator as part of the special issue “Constellations: Connections, Disruptions, and Imaginations in Cinema and Beyond.”
